Robe Rail Question
Several years ago, I was given a robe rail, less brackets, that was supposed to come from a Model A. It is the correct length and made of four cords twisted around a full-length spring. On the ends, just before where it was attached to the brackets, are gold crochet caps, the exact same material that was used as finishing caps on the assist straps. The rope is original and faded, and the crochet is...

First-Timer's Burtz Build at Home
I've noticed several people around the internet would like to see a blow-by-blow account of assembling a Burtz Model A engine.
That wouldn't be far off from my usual record-keeping, so here goes..
I've taken my time to research all of the available parts options, so the goal for my '31 Tudor, is daily reliability as a 1930s car in modern traffic, for many decades to come. Fuel...Last edited by Kettle95; Today, 05:50 AM.

Touring class questions
I am going through the items in the Touring Class from MAFCA and learning what is allowed and what is not or points deductions. Quick question about gauges, since gauges are considered a convenience/safety upgrade with no loss in points, I would assume that includes the parts added to make them functional. Example, water temp gauge in an appropriate dual gauge cluster and the aftermarket water outlet...

2 questions for a newbie
I have 2 projects that I am doing but need advice. I ordered a dome light with switch from Brattons and need to replace the 6 volt bulb with a 12 volt bulb but do not know how to get the cover off to replace the bulb. I don’t want to force something and break it. The 2nd project is to add a thermostat and temperature gauge. I got a kit from Vintage Precision which came with a 160 thermostat and...

1929 OPCU tailgate chain questions
I was looking through the judging standard for tail gate chains and covers on pickup but did not see a direct reference to them. I probably missed it but figure I would ask here after using the search function and not finding anything.
1. how long were the chains - in the factory photos it appears the chain was really short, just to latch the tail gate and wouldn't be long enough to hold...

Pickup Radiator Shell, Headlamp Buckets & Cowl Band
I'm slowly working on making my '31 pickup look a little more authentic. The most glaring discrepancies are the radiator shell, headlamp buckets and cowl band. Currently these are all stainless steel. I just came across an original carbon steel pickup radiator shell, it should arrive next week. It needs some work, but is restorable. It has one old weld repair at the driver's side lower corner...

Late Model Rear End for a Model A
Is there a late model Ford rear end housing that has the same track width as the stock Model A rear end. I would prefer to not have to shorten something, if I don't have to.

Grounding drum taillight
I am rebuilding a drum taillight for my 29 phaeton. Of course, I painted the license bracket and the forged arm that attaches the taillight to the body (the 3 holes/D nuts to hold the forged bracket). Since there is only 2 wires going to the taillight (one for the taillight and one for the stoplight) the ground for the bulbs rely on the steel taillight parts to provide the ground. Since all the...
