  • Not a big fan of slang

......especially in discussions relating to technical issues. It's off putting to novices, makes them feel like an outsider, and bewildering to true outsiders ( non Model A people). As a newcomer to the Model A it took a little more reading to realize that "dizzy" had nothing to do with my sense of balance and that "juice" wasn't something I usually drink at breakfast. If difficulty with spelling is the issue or amount of typing involved with long words why not abbreviate? If "after setting the timing on my dist. I started installation of the hyd. brakes" I'd bet you would have no problem recognizing what I wrote AND it required less typing. Just a thought.

.....but, maybe you'd miss out on the "cool" factor.

    When u see me type
    KOEO
    or
    KOER

It means "key on engine off" & "key on engine running"

and "you" takes to long also

But if "key on engine on" is KOEO
wouldn't "key off engine off" be KOEO OH Wait!.. no that won't work.
How about EOKO " engine on key on" and EOKO no no that won't work either
      I got it! How about:
KOAEIR "key on and engine is running" and
KOAEINR "key on and engine is not running"
But...what if I turn the key to off and it keeps running?

If you turn the key off and it keeps running replace the ignition switch HEHE

What you meant to say was...
If U turn the KO and it keeps R replace the ignition switch.

Hey, while I was a youngster in school, I was taught to spell.

    Use it or loose it!!
You wana look waaay far up da road and plan yer route because the brakes are far more of a suggestion than a command!

Computers have ruined our ability to spell, punctuate, and do even rudimentary math in our heads. Don't even get me started on "auto correct"!

My kids were allowed to use calculators in school. If I was allowed to I might have passed math

We weren't allowed calculators till like 5th grade. They existed sure and we got to use the classroom ones so we know how to use them but test time no calculators. 3rd grade we had to learn times tables. I struggled with them more than I care to admit and the teacher said you don't expect to go everywhere with a calculator do you? Well now we do with cell phones haha.

My spelling is awful when it comes to typing as it usually autocorrects everything I will admit that but usually read what I typed before I submit it.

I dont think your going to get away from different names for things. Theres a wide range of age groups here and a wide range of local dialects.

The only thing you have to remember about "auto correct" is that Studebaker made the most "correct auto". Just compare this 1953 to any other.

Reminds me, Son, Mitch & I had our 6 MONTHS' phone call! TOO much to tipe---LOL
I WAKE up each morning by his BIG MUGSHOT, on my Desktop! He's a GREAT Son & has supported me through TRAUMAS Galore! He's sent me CASES of JET-FUEL Coffee, an OLD, Restored Sunnen Torque Wrench, "T" shirts, hoodies, if it gets COLD, shop Key Rings & surely I've left out something????---AND, he always asks how Buster T's doing.
He's the same age as my Son, Gregg, that I lost, due to a SUDDEN Heart Attack, while sitting at his computator, sure miss him!

There's one that keeps calculating the national debt, and the numbers are spinning so fast it will make your head spin.
