Translation) A constructed by me and made of self-made cast parts model engine modeled after the Ford Model A. The video is unedited, an edited is yet to come. The engine is like the model side valve controlled ("Flathead") and corresponds in dimensions to about 1: 4. It runs with petrol station gasoline and has spark plugs 1/4 x 32 which are ignited by a simple self-soldered Tranzistorzündung with Hall sensor on the crankshaft.

Over the weekend I was gifted with a "Model A Handbook" produced by the editors of Hot Rod Magazine in 1963. The first chapter is entitled, "The Model A's Curious Beginning." Here is some interesting information and a picture found in that first chapter.

Model A Counterbalanced Crankshaft

I know vendors today manufacture counterbalanced crankshafts for Model A's (SCAT & Burlington). I also know that many vendors today modify non-balanced cranks into balanced cranks by welding on weights, straightening the cranks and regrinding.
I also know of the Model B cranks with integral counterweights, plus the BB cranks with swedged-on counterweights. I also know that some have taken...

Who designed the Model A engine ?

Years ago, I remember reading somewhere that the engineer who designed the A engine did so in a remarkably short time, and when a prototype Model A with the new engine was taken on a test drive in 1927, it outran every other vehicle on the road. I cannot remember where I found this, or who the engine designer was....can anyone help me with this information ?

Model A sectioned engine details

Good morning everyone,

Does anyone know where I can find a good quality detailed sectional drawing of the Model A engine please? I am in the process of adjusting the bearings in my 1928 Tudor and I would like to double check something.
