Buy Your Good Gas from a Dedicated Pump

Two local gas stations sell the good gas without the corn crap in it. Fleet Farm has a pump that ONLY pumps the good gas. That's where I should have bought it.

Bill's Superette has a pump that sells 3 grades from one pump and hose. Today I bought 1 gallon of the good gas, but the last guy to use the pump most likely bought E-10 or E-85, so I suspect most of my one gallon is the crap gas. I should have pumped one gallon in the car, then one gallon into my jug, to be sure only good gas is used in my leaf blower.

Well, today I dumped yesterday's gallon of good gas into my Olds, then rode with my neighbor to Fleet Farm to buy another gallon of good gas from the dedicated pump. I also bought a new quart of 2 cycle oil. If it warms above zero tomorrow, I'll give the blower another try with the new gas. If it still doesn't rev up then the carb comes apart, as well as the tank filter.

Remember, a clogged or partially clogged exhaust can cause the same problem.

According to a guy that used to manage a station and dealt with the state inspectors, the capture system that the government mandates for all modern pumps: vapors and fuel are captured and returned to the holding tank so they do not pollute the environment. The amount left in the hose after pumping the 5 gallons used to test the flow of the pump it averages about 1/4 cup.

I have noticed it's tough to drain any gas from the hose these days, but I wasn't sure how much is inside the pump and switching compartment.
Back in the 60's with the hand crank to reset the numbers pumps, I could drain almost a quart out of each pump when I closed the station for the night. Even at 30 cents a gallon, every bit helps.

Two Guys got ARRESTED, when they fell asleep, while siphoning gas from a station tank filler, with a LOOOOONG skinny hose & an electric fuel pump, plumbed into their GAS TANK!---Must have been a REALLY QUALITY, 6 Volt Pump!

As a kid, we did that. We would pull up the pumps and drain the hoses one at a time pushing the car from pump to pump and even across the street for a few gallons.

Not yet, but I'm about ready to build a steam powered bellows to blow the snow.

Yep, I always mulch my leaves, and I don't water the grass or use fertilizer.
Why make more work than necessary, and my yard looks as good as the neighbor's, which gets water and fertilizer.

Samuel, my Gardener, dumps leaves, etc, in a portion of my raised flower bed, turns it occasionally, with a fork & I always have great soil to use, anywhere I need it. I grow veggies, herbs, etc, in HUGE Clay pots. I even add shredded paper, to the compost mix & triple 16 fertilizer.
