the tin blue ford emergency fuse boxes I have seen sell for over $100. recently. about a year ago I bought a lot of 3 for $30. and couple others for less than $30. each, all in excellent condition. not all prices crazy.

        fuses
        by carolinamudwalker
Just another thought on fuses. There was an article in the Sept/Oct 2013 Model A News page 21 about adding a second fuse to the lights and horn circuit. In my case the fuse on top of the starter is 30 amp and the second fuse is 20 amp. The theory being you don't want your engine shutting down with no place to pull over as in 4 lanes of traffic. (yes it happened) This of course would not help...

        Vintique's Fuse Block Assembly
        by Steve Plucker
I bought 2 Fuse Block Assemblies...the ones made by Vintique, and I have a problem with both of them.

First of all these are one of the best accessories on the market for what they do HOWEVER ...just try to get the fuse out. I am unable to get either fuse out because they are so tight in the block itself. If at all, they should come out without any problem...

        Blown Fuse affect timing ???
        by lpl87
Well my A stranded me again today !!! Getting old. When I got it home the fuse on the starter had the end blown off. My voltage had been looking high on the
alternator 10 amps but I thought it was just an inaccurate guage. Replaced the fuse but it won't start. Did something like this 3 months ago & it ended up the timing was off.
Is there a connection ??? Not sure if I am cut...

        Starter mounted fuse
        by slammin
Well, another newbe question. Search feature didn't net any answers. In addition to a battery disconnect I plan to put a fuse on my starter. Some comments I have found warn of a blown fuse causing the generator to destroy itself. Is there a better method to protect the electrical system?...

Died first time out this spring!
        by Easty
Got my 1930 A out of its storage place of honor after a long Vermont winter. Started right up so I decided run it up the quarter mile steep hill from my house. Got half way up, hit couple of pot holes on the dirt road, one backfire and it stopped dead. I had a choice of coasting backward back to the house or somehow get it turned around headfirst. I used the starter in first and reverse to get it...

        Positive or negative ground
        by Dreess
just bought a Model a which had the 6v battery grounded to the negative terminal instead of the positive. The car seemed to run Ok, but I switched the polarity to a positive ground, but now there seem to be a short to ground as the 30 amp fuse at the starter blows. What issues may have been caused by the original incorrect grounding? Is there something else, other than a shorted wire, that I should...

        Starter draw
        by slammin
I installed one of those buss 30 amp fuse blocks on my starter. The insulation was bad on wires from the ammeter to the junction box so I replaced those as well as adding the missing dash light. Today the weather was great so I decided to take a short drive around the neighborhood. I hooked up the battery and as soon as I hit the starter button, the fuse blew! I pulled out the multimeter and wiring...

stuf you dont need to know
        by carolinamudwalker
A widower was throwing out these manuals, If anyone would like to have any of them there yours for the postage. The second picture is a dash starter I made by screwing a brake rod into the starter and fabricating a bracket under the dash. I am sure it has been done before. Probably most model A's have a fuse mounted on the starter moter, but did you know that if it blows the engine shuts down. It...

        Headlight Fix....
        by Nabco
Ok guys I’m wading into uncharted waters and going to try and fix something electrical on my car.

So my headlights and horn stopped working today, I noticed a wire coming from the alternator to a fuse and connected to the wires form the headlight to the switch was hanging loose, not connected to anything (see picture) already removed the wire from the alternator just the wire with the...
