  • Driving at night

Try dimming your dash lights and those electric devices when your are having troubles seeing the road. On a trip riding with my older brother he was having troubles seeing because of rain and unfamiliar road. I asked him can you turn down his dash lights, he said he didn't know and then he found how too. It amazed him how mich better he could see, it amazed me he didn't know that!

My siblings are just the opposite, they are amazed at me....period!!!!! :rolling

When I was younger, driving was almost always at night on long trips but I avoid it now whenever possible. Just too hard on the eyes.

Black asphalt roads are the worst. But better than snow and ice.

I tried the nighttime driving glasses last year but found them ineffective: didn't pay big bucks for them and that may have been responsible for their ineffectiveness.

I haven't turned on my car radio for the past 3 years, because there is nothing worth listening to.
I find myself more focused on the road and other drivers just by that simple move.

                    Update on my Model A
                    by copgib
Well my brother picked up my model A from the mechanic after a test drive with him. He told me the car runs real nice and he decided to trailer it to his house since the mechanic lives about 2-3 hours away from his house. After talking to my brother, I don't know whether to be excited or depressed. First after telling me the car runs real nice he started on the problems, he noticed that he had to...

                    Good News For Me
                    by copgib
I have mentioned in the past that I will be picking up my 1930 Model A Coupe up in Louisana the first week of May. I will meet my brother who will be coming from Texas with my car. My mechanic has been working on it since October 2017, on and off. He is a retired mechanic that owned his own shop and had worked on many Model A's. He told my brother he loved working on my car but forgot how much work...

                    Where is FLOP from Pittsburgh?
                    by Tom Wesenberg
FLOP use to post pictures of his Model A rust repairs and metal shaping, and he did excellent work. I wish he would start posting on this site, as I really enjoyed watching his repairs.

I found this link to some of his work, by doing a Google search. His posting could even help someone wanting to do their own repairs.

Have you ever been stopped by a cop?
                    by Ray Horton
Beauford's post about his two mile drive for a Coke got me thinking about the times I've been stopped by a cop while I was driving my A. It might be entertaining, if not informative, to share some stories. One of my memorable stops was coming home about 9:00 pm on a dark country road with my 3-month old daughter asleep in the back seat (no carrier, it was 1970). First the county deputy wanted to tell...

If your head gasket could talk.....or torque.....
                    by tbirdtbird
About 60 members from our club just got back from 6-7 days in Yellowstone and Glacier Natl Park. Most trailered, one guy drove it. Some very steep passes there, especially in Glacier, the Going to the Sun road. The road is mostly 6% grade with some sections at 10%, and it is a brutal but majestic drive. No guard rails. One member has had trouble with blown head gaskets on his recent build, having...
