  • Goofing around in the desert

Got the F150 a little dirty today...

About 80 miles of desert trails to the top of Montana Mountain and back.
The obligatory selfie (me and the Warden) and truck on a rock pic.
To be fair to the others, I ran in 2wd up to the point of going up a 25 degree incline where I selected 4wd to keep from spitting rocks all over my buddy’s Rubicon behind me..

By the time the ride was done, it was getting dark and doggoned hard to see the trail as I was following one of the other guys out. The trail was too narrow in some spots and afraid I got some desert pin-striping - so tomorrow I will wash it all up and get after the scratches with compound and hope for the best..

So - that was my day today...
Going forward, I’ll probably leave the tougher stuff for the SxS..

Love exploring the desert and have found many beautiful spots. Yes and some snakes but we tend to leave them alone....
Something to look at if you’re interested... pics below are from the link as well..

That's the kind of country I like, no grass to mow, and no leaves to rake, and our antique cars should last a lot longer in the dry climate.

Lotsa old cars here. Problem is that most people know what they’re worth or THINK they know what they’re worth because they watched some TV show..

It looks a LOT worse than it really is.... Its called Desert PinStripping... The Warden was not pleased but after washing it today 90% of it totally disappeared... A little compound and wax will make it perfect again.

If anyone has gone to Aruba and did the other side of the island it's all desert like that. We rented wranglers and tore the crap out of them, barely limped back to the rental spot. ATF was pouring out of the cooler, what a experience that was

Wow Mitch... Yeah, you definitely want to opt-in on the rental insurance.... Wranglers are generally pretty tough!

              joy riding in my A
              by Dave hummell
today was a pretty nice day so I took my car out for a little ride and ended up over to my friend that I buy hay off of and I said you got time to go for a little ride he was in the cab so fast I thought he was going to rip the door off. I took Fred for about an hour ride. I then went over the hill and visited another old friend he was running the sawmill but shut it down to say hello. I said the...

              The New Truck Is Home
              by Soapy
The 1955 F-350 truck has reached it's new home. It had a long ride after a shaky start. Evidently, when it was parked, the owner ran the box up and shoved an 8" log between the box and the frame, really close to the hinge. That wouldn't have been a problem with the truck just sitting, but would have been really punishing if it had to ride to Michigan from Minnesota that way with the box shoving...

Well guys my car has been getting a face lift for about a year now and within the next couple weeks I hope to show you all what it looks like. Dan Baldwin and others that had did work on my car did a outstanding job. I am very happy and I will soon be putting some pictures on here what it looked like before during and after. I did not go with Henry's original colors or materials, but I did keep the...

1930 Ford Model A Coupe "Elaine"
              by Howie1930
Hello folks. Here is my newly acquired 1930 Model A Coup I am naming Elaine. Also over here, Post #311.

What I know so far is that this vehicle was purchased sometime in the late 60's by my Grandfather (Howard Engh-USMC) and grandmother (Elaine-USN) while they were stationed at Pear Harbor. My understanding is that it was purchased from someone in Hawaii who had it all disassembled and...

              by Terry, NJ
It completely slipped my mind, but today was the January Jacktown sale, swap meet. I scrambled to get up there early before the snow came. there were approximately thirty vendors pushing there rust, mostly tractor and small engine parts. However, There was one guy from Ringoes, NJ with mod. A parts. Not many, but the stuff was kinda shabby and nothing that I don't have two or three of myself. I've...

              1955 F-350 Stake Truck
              by Soapy
I've always loved trucks. It's been nearly 20 years since we sold the place up north, and my last old straight truck was a big Dodge Low Cab Forward beauty that went with the farm. So I have been looking for one for old times sake, I guess, and I found one last week that I think will satisfy my itch without precipitating a divorce. It is a '55 Ford F-350 with a dumping Midwest grain box and a deluxe...
