His son, Bob, who is next to him does the burnout competition here. The 70 Chevy pictured has not been in it, but does have a 454 installed for cruising only. Mechanical, close to genius, he is.

I met Bud about 30 years ago and this is the guy he saw walking to town. They were tearing down a 100 year old dilapidated bar ( town of 65 people ) and an indian wanted to claim his rights to the bar before its destruction. Bud drove by and his neck turned like an owl. He hadn't seen an indian in these parts for years. Seems we've been friends ever since. My Mother in Law is pictured here too, but didn't have a clue it was me and I was even wearing her false teeth Worthless stories by none other than Pat, with no hobbies ! Great day to all, Pat

      Big train
      by 1930 Closed Cab PU
This is marginally A related, is about my club's meeting today.

Meeting was held at a member's farm, and included a walk around of his steam train restoration facility. I got there a little late, but plenty of time to look before the meeting started. Since I was late had to park around back and came in through the back door, where a train was being worked on. I was flabbergasted/shocked,...

Alright, here's a story from a few days ago in my town: i went to a garage sale, and the guy had a large assortment of tools, so i was paying for the tools i bought, and we get to chewing the fat, so i mention my Model A, so he says he recently lost a friend was 97 years old, and used to work on Model As, until his passing. So the guy i bought the tools from gives me an account of this 97 year old,...

Here is a photo of the guy who was on the vererans float with me. It was his birthday, and he was 95 years old that day. He told me that exactly 75 years ago, also on his birthday, he got his draft notice for WW2.
You might notice that he looks better than me.
The other photo is my daughter and her dog, and me.

I have learned of the passing of Herman Kohnke in Clare Iowa. Herman was renowned engine builder and machinist. He has done two complete engine jobs for me in the past I was young then as was Herman. His shop and machinery were always spotless never a spec of grease dirt or oil anywhere. Herman also contributed here from time to time and shared his knowledge with us he will be sorely missed...

I came across this story I wrote in 1995. Hope it’s not too long a read. After I restored the car, I gave my Dad a ride in the Model A. It was around his birthday and I remember him saying that this was his best birthday present ever. Dad is no longer with us but I remember him every time I drive my Model A....

Coming Soon to a Town Near You, A New Scam
      by Tom Wesenberg
Usually the scams are easy to detect because they come from countries that don't know our language too well.
Now it starting to be homegrown. I just read this one on the Studebaker website.

"Hello, I got a phone call, the caller new my name and I liked 1951 starlight coupes He said someone from the east coast was going to buy his starlight and backed out but gave him my name...

      Sad Ending, New Beginning
      by Rumbleseater
Unfortunately last Thursday, we lost our 85 year old friend we purchased our '29 Model A Coupe from. He had four other Model A's, and his family took possession of the other three. My wife and I felt honored that he offered and sold his coupe to us. He had purchased the car in the the mid 1970's for $350.00 from the original owners off a farm in Wisconsin. He finished a frame off restoration in 1979....
