I found the engine number pad on the left side of the engine but there was never an identification number stamped on it. Any idea why?...

December 1927 Model A Engine What is it worth?
      by 96Deluxe
I bought a 1929 Model A "Leather Back" 4 door years ago. When I finally decided I wanted to sell it I discovered it had a 5 digit serial numbered engine with a 1928 pan on it. Checking the serial number on the block revealed it was made in Dec of 1927. The car has a date on the fuel tank of January 1929 and is registered as a 1929.
Obviously the engine had been changed at some point...

Frame number is the same as the engine (VIN) number reference material
      by Great Lakes Greg
I am restoring a July '29 for a friend. His title has a gibberish engine rebuilder number on it, and I am going to the Secretary of State soon to straighten it out for an authentic *A---* number. We have a nice frame number for reference. Is there anything "official" that I can present to show that the engine is indeed supposed to match the frame (and hence, the VIN) number? I like to go...

Vin number that starts with AX?
      by old31
What does it tell you when an engine VIN is AX followed by 6 numbers? The engine was in a 1930.

I read the Ford Garage info but didnt see anything.

      Changing Engines
      by Hank B
I have 3 A's that have the incorrect engine serial number for the car.

By doing an engine rotation, I could make each of them more correct.
Purchasing my latest A has allowed this to happen.

The cars would then have an engine that was built in the same year as the car, but not necessarily the correct month.

Other than making me feel better about each of...

      Model A Serial Number
      by Rickeys
I have a 1929 Model A coupe special which I have owned since 1979. I finally decided to try to obatain a title. What I have found is the engine stamped serial number stamped on the block is just G161. Of course the state states that this is not a typical Ford number. Can anyone shed any light on this number?
