I'm not like these new gen techs to wear latex gloves 24-7 but when I repack brgs and such i'll throw them on. Otherwise I end up using 20 rags

Maybe the u-joint cavity was filled with 600W instead of grease::

Geez, just finished some equipment bearing work and forgot the gloves. They were right there too. Old school, senior moment, etc.

Talking about using gloves. While I was still being paid to do mechanic work, like back in the 70's and 80's, folk would come into the shop and ask why I was wearing surgical gloves to work on their motorcycles. I would always tell them, "just because I have to be a mechanic, doesn't mean I have to be dirty."

I used to see similar tools in the stores, but haven't seen any recently.

                          U-Joint Grease capacity...Now I am worried
                          by Steve Plucker
                          OK...True or False...Am I screwed or not?...

Just assembled the U-joint outside upper and lower caps onto the July 1928 chassis without any grease within what so ever.

Now to fill the inside with grease. One recomendation is to remove the Speedometer Drive Cap Assembly from the tourque tube and fill the area with grease until it runs out the Speedometer Drive Cap Assembly...

                          Grease Fittings - Apology
                          by JohnB15632
The shock links that come form from a major supplier come with an angled original grease fitting. I have determined that this is a 3/8" threaded fitting. This fitting hex is 7/16 wrench, therefore, the threads are 3/8".

I want to go with the modern grease fittings. The largest angled grease fitting is 5/16" that I have found so far.

                          Does anyone out there know...

                          Grease viscosity question.........
                          by Grit Kid
I use red and I noticed today being hot and sorts, I was looking for something and I open the door to a cabinet that has my grease guns. I notice the grease had leaked out onto the shelf. I guess this would be from being so hot and even hotter in a steel garage. If this is happening to the guns, what about Sarah's joints that take grease? Seems the viscosity is breaking down.

                          Carbonized Grease for Electrical connections
                          by Rob Doe
A month or so back, I asked about carbonized grease. Comments were positive. When I installed my distributor I cleaned the paint off the head and the distributor base where they make contact for ground, the condenser too. I applied the grease to those surfaces.

Since I had the floorboards out for lubing the throw out bearing this week, I took a look at the battery cables. My car has two...

Help - Grease Fitting on bottom of Front Spindle - No worky
                          by getgood
First time getting to lubricating the spindles on the car this weekend and ran into a snag.
Noticed the lower grease fitting on the spindle wasn't quite seated - attempted to apply grease anyway and fitting came out.
It is an aftermarket zerk - verified that it was not blocked and reinstalled - got it about 1/2 way in and reattempted to grease. Same result - zerk came out.
                          No problems...

very new to the Model ! vehicles. Inherited from my 95 year old father. 3 yrs ago I did manage to start and drive by myself. So I am learning very slow.
