Well today I got some good news and some bad news. As most of you know, my Model A is sitting in my mechanics garage in Texas. I am in Florida, so I have to communicate through my brother who is getting things done for me there. Today I was told my mechanic got the loaner engine put into my Model A. Once he had the motor in, he noticed the distributor didn't look quite right. My mechanic states it looks like whoever owned the Model A before me tried to install modern day point system in it, but failed badly. He stated some of these parts weren't installed properly, maybe that is why it looks like he never got it running after the rebuilt. So my mechanic, that has been working on Model A's for 60-years wants to install the original parts for the points system to bring it back to original. So today I had my brother order all the original parts to rebuild the points system or distributor. We are slowly getting things done, I only wished I could be there for all this. My brother is taking photos for me as things are getting done. Once again I am trying to get as much done to the car there in Texas before I meet my brother in Louisana and bring her home. Why Louisana you ask? That is where my daughter lives so I can visit her and get my car at the same time. I hope I haven't bored anyone, just though I would share what is going on in my world. Take care Hugh

Yes Bill it probably would make a good story. While my mechanic is doing the mechanical work in Texas, I am ordering things that will make my car look better going down the road. Everything I have ordered for it I have had delivered to my brothers house in Texas. The plan is to pick the car up in May looking sharp. Hopefully that will include a paint job. I am not looking forward to removing that orange paint from the engine though.Last edited by copgib; 02-22-2018, 10:41 PM.

by copgibHi guys, just wanted to let you know what I got myself into. My brother has a friend that sold us two cars that were stored for about 20-years in a shed. My brother bought a 1926 Dodge Brothers Coupe and I bought a 1930 Model A. My brothers car is now running with very little manpower to it. My Model A is a different story. I bought mine for what I believe was a good price $2,000. I was told it had...

by copgibI have mentioned in the past that I will be picking up my 1930 Model A Coupe up in Louisana the first week of May. I will meet my brother who will be coming from Texas with my car. My mechanic has been working on it since October 2017, on and off. He is a retired mechanic that owned his own shop and had worked on many Model A's. He told my brother he loved working on my car but forgot how much work...

by copgibI thought I would update everyone on what I have been doing on my Model A since I got it. I got it about 2-years now out of Texas, a real barn find. The engine was replaced with what the seller said was rebuilt but never run. The story is the previous owner rebuilt the engine and then stated to rebuild that car and family problems stopped all work on it. The guy who sold it to my brother was a fellow...

by copgibMy 1930 Model A Coupe returned home today after being at my mechanic for the last 6-months. He has done alot of work getting it mechanicaly running good. Now it will be my turn to deal with everything else that is wrong with the car. With my business, this will also be a slow process, but I plan to do little at a time. Today the temp is supposed to be around 100-degrees so I am staying inside the...

by copgibWell I haven't mentioned lately on what I have been doing to my 1930 Model A Coupe. Well, like others, extra bills that needed paying has slowed me down. I did find a mechanic locally that just happens to live down the road from me. So with his help I have the car rewired and we are in the middle of installing the mechanical brakes. My mechanic found most of the parts I needed and what we don't have...

by copgibWell my brother picked up my model A from the mechanic after a test drive with him. He told me the car runs real nice and he decided to trailer it to his house since the mechanic lives about 2-3 hours away from his house. After talking to my brother, I don't know whether to be excited or depressed. First after telling me the car runs real nice he started on the problems, he noticed that he had to...

by copgibWell guys, the wait is over. I picked up my 1930 Model A from Dan Baldwin today. I am going to show you a few pictures of my car before and after some time and a little money. Back in March 2020, I had Dan Baldwin pickup my Model A and start the process of improving my car. I want you all to know, it isn't perfect or a car that will be judged. I always wondered what was under all that cracked paint...You do not have permission to view this gallery.

by copgibHere is my car after my mechanic completed his work on it. My brother still needs to put the hub caps on and the new front and back bumpers. I will have to deal with the brakes and paint once I get my hands on it. I purrs like a cat my brother says! HughYou do not have permission to view this gallery.

by copgibWell I go to Louisana on Tuesday and I will pickup my long awaited 1930 Model A and bring her home. My brother sent me a video of it running and being driven down road. It looks and sounds great. Then he tells me some bad news. I asked him to check with the mechanic and see if there is any of the emergency brake parts left on the car when the previous owner put juice brakes on the rear. I was told...

by copgibI just found out that my first mechanic for my Model A in Texas, Jimmy Underwood has passed away at 82 years old. He was the mechanic that replaced the motor in my Model A and also got it running after it was a barn find sitting in a shed for 40 some years. Although I never met the man, he made it possible for me to afford a Model A by charging me very little for all the work he did on it. My brother...
