$600.00 Wrong shape gives them away. Obviously somebody told him they were worth a lot and he didn't read the RG&JS Area 15. Besides that if they were the early clamps only the rear had the Ford script. And the backing plate are the wrong type for beginning to early 28.

I recently attended an auction and ended up winning several lots that had original bumper backing plates (both the forged and stamped styles) in them (the backing plates for the large clamps). In sorting them I noticed that some of them had a letter stamped into them. I had thought that there were essentially 2 kinds of bumper cross braces - the early tube type and the later stamping. However the one on my early 1931 Tudor is ½" thick by 2" bar stock, and looks like it has always been there. You can see from the photo that it has taken a hell of a hit. I think that I can straighten the bend, but getting the one end back to 90 degrees may be a challe...You do not have permission to view this gallery.

There are two types of early '28 adjustable wrenches. One has a larger Ford script on the upper jaw and was made by Barcalo. The other had a smaller Ford script, also on the upper jaw, and was made by Moore Drop Forging. I have a pair of original front bumper bars that are in excelent condition EXCEPT for the edges.
I know that they will plate up nice...HOWEVER if and when plated the rust pits will show on the edges.
If the rust pits were to be removed, by removing the metal, it for sure would almost ruin the looks and definition of the bars themselves.
