  • 28-29 Windshield Hinge

Does anyone still have a link to Marco's page showing the distance from the end of the upper hinge and the notch for the windshield wiper? Thought I had it bookmarked, but since I have not looked at it for quite some time it may have gotten punted from the list. Brought home 2 of them today and need to correctly ID. Thanks Rod

Thanks. By upper hinge I was meaning the header finish panel, but think I can figure it out from here. Rod

FYI - The upper windshield hinge for the 82-A cab had two designs. See photos - the early design measures 14" and the common design is 12-3/4".

Neil, how late was the notch at 14" used? Also any comment on the design change for the shape of the ends? Seems the shape of the end that was on my 29 130-A Deluxe Delivery is the same as as the early 82- A That has the notch at 14". Thanks Rod

Seems one is 14", the other is 12 3/4" as is the one from my delivery (bottom one in pic's). Curious about the differences in the ends. If anyone has anything to add. Thanks Rod

          Straighting a window hinge
          by pAAt
I'm getting ready to sandblast and paint my window frame. The top hinge plate is warped slightly (on the ends). What is a good way to straighten it and what kind of clearance (slop in hinge) should I have before painting ? Pat

Need 60-A and 60-B Windshield Frame Measurements
          by Rowdy
A friend traded a Model T windshield frame for a Model A windshield frame. When he got it home it is definately not a standard Model A windshield frame size and the hinge bracket at the top appears to bolt to wood at the ends, not just scrwe to the header . I am thinking it is likely a 28 Briggs windshield or other fordor frame as it only has a single hole for a hand wiper. Could use a width and height...

          Glass Trademark
          by Neil Wilson
RGJS 10-3 shows "Windshield Trademark Location" as per the first photo. However, the drawing is not of a windshield and the trademark does not match the various trademarks shown.

Anyone have information about the location of the trademark in the second photo?

          Windshield openings?
          by DaWizard
I have been sitting here wondering just how many always run with the windshield open and how wide and for what reason?

I will start by saying up until a few days ago, I ran mine closed and put up with the reflection of the rear lights and stuff. But since it has been 95° plus the last few days I cracked it open about 1½in., we'll see how that works.

          Windshield hitting Stanchion
          by Beauford
I put my mirrors on the top screw hole of stanchions on my '29 RPU and now the windshield wants to hit towards the bottom of stanchion on drivers side. I have loosened here and there tightened with not being able to center windshield. It worked fine with just the bottom screws in. To attach stanchions on a Brookville body you use a one piece backing plate with two threaded holes that sits behind where...

28-29 CCPU Mirrors on windshield posts
          by Denis4x4
Asked this question over at brand X and really got no satisfactory answers. My '29 CCPU cab was built from various pieces. It was originally a homemade C cab and I bought doors and extended cab corners, etc. The mirrors on both sides are bolted to the windshield posts just below the visor mounts as opposed to hinge mounts. Can someone tell me if I have an A or AA cowel?

          windshield frame
          by David31ford
Hi I'm new to this form and new with the model A . I have a 31 Ford slant windshield and I am looking for the area that the windshield connects to right above the pillars across the front . I'm not sure what this area is called but whoever had the car before me decided to weld across the hinge and they messed that area up and needs to be cut out and replaced.
