  • Eyes of design June 18

Eyes of design is on Father's Day June 18th at the Edsel Elenore estate Grosse point mi any one going .?

I won't be going, but it would be interesting to see what they think is good designs.
IMHO Studebaker had the best designs during the 50's, and the 53/54 style still looks modern, even by today's standards.
If it had a bowtie and GM behind it's name, Studebaker would have outsold them all.
Some of the nicest styled cars are most of them during the early 30's, especially many of the 33 and 34 cars.

      Chicken or the egg?
      by Larry Jenkins
While perusing some images of old cars in the Model A era, I see there are many that look like our 30-31 Model As. Question:

What are your thoughts about whether or not all some of the old cars from this period were copies of the Model A, OR, was the Model A a copy on another old car of that same period?

I seem to recall that Edsel Ford also did the design work on the 30/31s....

Electric Cars 1870's -- Prior to Gas Engines
      by H. L. Chauvin
A few years ago one of my family members died and we were going through our family estate colonial historical documents in our ancient land grant estate house.

We found a later 1905 dated post card written to my grandfather from his Godchild who was studying to become Priest at the Marist Seminary in Maryland.

He described how the night before, his seminary student friend...

Model A Parts Found at Studebaker Swap Meet
      by Tom Wesenberg
Two years ago at the Studebaker swap I found a nice 1928 flat screen Sparton horn. As I was carrying it to my car a guy with a German accent asked if it was for sale. I told him I'd just bought it, but if he was from Germany, I should have sold it to him, as they can't be easy to find over there.

This year I found a nice 1928 carb and a mint 1930 radiator cap. Must be a few guys that...

Model A's In Commercial's and The Movies?
      by Leo
I was in the car wash yesterday and noticed a guy with a nice mid 80's Mercedes coupe. We struck up a conversation about the car and he said that he was on his way to a commercial shoot in NYC. He went on to say that he has this car registered with an agency that supplies vehicles to photographers who want them for commercials. He also told me that the typical fee for using his car was $1000 for a...
