  • Oil Filter Question

One more before I go to bed. The roadster has a oil filter block on it with some modern hot rod braided stainless lines going to it. Can I replace these with tubing? Nothing flexes on this and I would like to tone it down a bit so it doesn't look so out of place.

Pictures of the filter system you have for answers.
You wana look waaay far up da road and plan yer route because the brakes are far more of a suggestion than a command!

    Changing oil and filter
    by Rob Doe
My 12 year old grandson is going to assist me this weekend in changing Little Bug Eye's oil and filter. She has the A-6705-F full flow oil filter kit in Snyder's catalog. Do I need to prefill this filter when changing the oil? Pour a couple quarts down the distributor hole? Or is there some other precautionary procedure that is needed to prevent any dry running at first?

To filter or not to filter?
    by BillEbob
Modifying a line from Shakespeare, I ask all you many experts out there: is there an oil filter kit that you would recommend?

I have heard from people in my club NOT to install one because there is not enough oil pressure in a Model A engine to successfully use a filter without robbing pressure.

Please educate me. I know that Paul Shinn uses one but won’t recommend any...

Here is a YouTube video of an A owner in Germany adding an oil filter. A bit long but you can flash FWD a bit to where he gets the timing plate modification. Anyone else use these?

Full flow oil filter on a B block
    by DaWizard
Well, looks like my next rebuild is a B diamond block. Now, kinda knowing how the oil system is changed on the B engine, anyone have a simple way to full flow oil filter the B system?

Pictures or drawings would really be nice.

the oil filter setup that bratton and snyder sells
    by Dave hummell
I haven't done any improvements to my oil pump system but I am always in favor of a filter on an oil system. To me I'd like to put one on my 31 engine but I am having a hard time convincing myself it's going to work with such low oil pressure yes I believe it has the volume but will it actually have the ability to push the oil through a pleated spin on filter. Would you need a check valve in the filter...

Full flow oil filter on a B block
    by DaWizard
Well, since there were no responses on the Modified side guess I'll ask this here.

I would like to place a full flow oil filter on a B block, even knowing how the oiling works. I would like to use anyone else's experience before applying what I already know.

    Little help from my friends...

Mac's Auto Parts offers an oil filter adaption for the model A engine. Please comment on your experience/knowledge of adapting to the Model A engine. Is it a good idea?

    Thank you,

    Stock oil filter
    by Fourdy
I am using the stock flatty filter for the first time on my new engine. While cleaning it up I find only one very small hole in the inner tube about an inch from the top. Should there be more? I also have the restriction fitting at the canister inlet. These holes sure do seem to be small.

Look forward to the answers so I can move on.
