I know how to do this on the 'other' forum but I'm not sure about how to do it on the VFF.

It looks like you just click on the User's name and new window pops up to type the PM.

I'll send you one as a test.

Be sure to click on Private Message before typing.

The chat link is also a combo PM / chat system..

other ways to start one is
the cloud next to the users avatar name
from the users profile
from the membership list
From your message in / out center

i always use the chat link and if the other user is on you can message back and forth
