How do you take an original Eaton stainless gas cap apart for restoration. I have the 30/31 style with the stainless cap pressed on the inner cadium part. It seems like I have seen an article somewhere but I can't find it.

          Gas cap differences 1930?
          by benbuilder
I have a 1930 coupe i bought as a driver. It has the original tank, it is not a 28/29 tank. The gas cap has two tabs underneath and it works fine.

I bought a project 1930 tudor. no gas cap. I am looking for a cap for this project.

My gas cap from the coupe fits the tudor perfectly.

I ordered a new cap made by Vintique. It did not fit. I bought two used ones from...

          low crown gas cap
          by Jim Mason
I have a low crown gas cap with soldered liner. It has the 3 holes one the raised ring.

          From the standards:

Beginning in September 1928, a second type gas cap liner was introduced. This design had three vent holes evenly spaced on a raised circle on the inside liner which was soldered to the gas cap and was used through 1929. Gas caps with the soldered liner were furnished...

          29 Repro gas cap question
          by fred93
The original gas cap on the 29 Tudor that I am restoring would not tighten down. The threads looked okay but when I tried to tighten it down it just kept turning. So I bought a repro from Brattons and when I went to put it on the gas tank I seemed to have a tough time of it. Those fine threads are a pain (I guess that is why Ford changed it on to 30-31 cars)

Anyway, I got it to fit (I...

Gas & cap? and Transmission oil check?
          by Jim Stulga
Hi, Combining two topics this time. Only recently got the car and did my first gas fill up. What octane is recommended for an original '30 engine? I used 87 and thinking (maybe imagination) it's not running as well. I did add 4oz Marvel Mystery Oil which I read about on this site. Also, I filled up so I could see the "F". When turning corners, gas started spilling out. Should we not...
