  • Running Board Brackets...

Well I set the running board on brackets to have a look since I have my body on. How do you tell which is front, back, left, right. i switch the front and back on drivers side and they are still not right.

If you have the truck stamped ones I don't think it matters. But then, I don't really know, I would keep trying until I make them fit one way or another.
You wana look waaay far up da road and plan yer route because the brakes are far more of a suggestion than a command!

Kinda like the Hooters Girls, different sizes on all of them !!, but all look great when installed correctly or incorrectly for that matter

The shorter ones are for the rear and the side does not matter. The slightly longer ones are for the front and they should appear to be slightly angled back compared to the frame at that point. Rod

The parts book shows the fronts are the same and the rears are different for left and right.

Ok...back at this jiga puzzle again...as you can see from the pic the front bracket is sticking out too far. I have switched sides with them and still the same thing...

I think you should get the front and rear fenders on and see how things line up.

Thanks Bob. Question? Does the running board lip go into groove of apron? It looks like it makes sense. I would have to pull the front part of the apron out to have board go over bracket.

I have the short ones on the back that make a straight line. I've searched and searched and seems fronts are interchangeable ..

If you measure tip to tip of the fronts they should be the same~ tip to tip on the rears. Rod

              Hmmmmm
this is bringing back some memories. Seems to me I had to slightly notch one apron to properly fit over a bracket. Never could figure out why. Possibly because the aprons are repops. I'll have to crawl under the car to be sure

This is all re-pop.. Rowdy..I measured from the edge of apron out. Both of the fronts are about 10" and both rears are about 9" if I locked in running board to apron and pull out so board lip goes over bracket it will work. Just wonder how front fenders will line up. I dont have any yet...

I am beginning to wonder if he has a couple of AA brackets he is trying to mount on his car/ 1/2 ton chassis. Rod

Just checking. I had to sort out three AA brackets out of my parts pile. Now have the two stamped sets and one forged set I need for projects present and future. May be close to having an extra set of stamped.

Did not realize your brackets were repop. Rod

I had a pair of original early '28s but they were bent to hell. Probably should have kept them ...

I have at least ten rear running board brackets that I have to choose from for a frame I have. Are there lefts and rights, because they all look the same on the bench.

My "A" came with the rear running board brackets bent up. After drilling them out I put out some feelers for replacements. I also looked them up in Snyder's. According to their catalog the right and left brackets need to be ordered separately. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the two? Unfortunately I did not consider this when I removed them and now am not sure where they...

              Hi all,

Looking for your sage advice on running boards. As I proceed with my restoration, I started on installing the new running boards today. As I test fitted the acorn bolts, I discovered that the bolts closest to the body didn't clear out of the bottom of the running board bracket. After doing some research, it looks like I've got 1928-era brackets even though the VIN on the car would...

              by Bick in New Zealand
Is there a anti squeak between the running board brackets and the running boards?
If so what do you use?

Front Bumper is high on one side
              by Rob Doe
Have driven my coupe 440 miles in the last few days. Having fun after initial troubles. (Car is new to me) I'm starting to look at small annoyances.

The front bumper is not correct. The car has a lot of driver-side lean, and I walk around and step on the opposite running board after getting out to level it. I was cautious about leveling the body before deciding the bumper was off. I used...

              Rootlieb vs quality
              by Steve Plucker
Trying to find good running boards for my wife's July 1928 Open Cab Pickup is like finding hens teeth.

That being said...how is the quality and appearance of Rootlieb's (in Turlock, CA) running boards compaired to the original?

I know the two brackets that are spot welded to the bottom of the running boards are questionable...thinking about spot welding originals on if I...

Years ago I bought a project Model A. Now that I'm retired I began spending time on it. It has a 1930 early 31 pick cab (solid metal roof with wooden bows and no lip on the visor). Engine is a 1929 (engine block number checked against record), I have eyebrow front fenders. No well for the front tire. Obviously not applicable to a pickup. I'll want to trade them for applicable fenders. They...

Original Model A Commercial Running Boards
              by Steve Plucker
Did all ORIGINAL Model A Ford "Commercial" Running Boards come with narrow support bracket down the middle between the running board to frame support brackets (on the running board itself) or not?

              Thanks.
