Good Luck on the new site

My name is Paul and I'm retired. I have four old cars.

The first is a 48 Ford Conv., mild 302, 8 inch rear custom interior, power brakes, windows and steering. I have had this car over 30 years and have done a lot of traveling with it.

The second is a 54 Ford Victoria, 312, 4 speed toploader and a 9 inch rear. Pleated custom interior. When I bought it, it had a stock 239 and auto and I did the changeover.

The third is a 56 Bird, mostly stock, 312 but I have installed a C-4 auto. Have done a lot of traveling with this car too, two trips from the east coast to the west coast plus other trips to various Tbird conventions. Was restored about 6 years ago

The fourth is a 64 Fairlane. mostly stock. Originally a six with a three speed on the tree, I installed a HO and kept the 3 speed and have done some minor upgrading.

You have good taste in cars. I like to see them built to be driven.

          Paul,
Especially like your '48 Convertible! I had a '41 & "upgraded" to a '46. I shortened my side trim & ended it at the front of the doors. I used the electric top lifts from the '41 & made "mystyfing" hood & trunk lifts! Painted Pirate Red, a '49 Lincoln/Mercury color. Car was set on a low rake. STOLE the SouthWind heater from the '41, to keep my Honey WARM! Ever get stuck & sleep overnight, in the back seat of a CONVERTIBLE???---I LOST the coin toss---LOL
Ever switch the shift lever to the LEFT side, for more "makin' out" room? They shift sort' FUNNY that way--LOL

Overdrive or 4 speed transmission or ring and pinion
            by davew
winter has set in and thinking of options. Would like to bump my speed from 45 to maybe 55. Would also like to do some longer distance touring. So-being new to the model A I'm looking at the four speed transmission conversions. People in Texas and California seem to have good ones and would look clean inside There is the mitchell overdrive but puts another shifter inside. But all kinds of gears. ...

What is your favorite year Ford
            by ClaudeC
It is interesting to find what year Fords are the favorites.
I especially like the 1933,1934 fords..sexy grills. But it is primitive compared to later models.

            Why a Model A
            by Fixitphil
The reason I bought my 1931 Sport Coupe was that I've always had a yearn to own another one. I bought this one at age 77 as a hobby for my retirement years. I've owned "Baby" for 6 months and hope to have the restoration done in another couple of months.
My parents always talked of the good ole days and the Model A was always in the conversation.
I owned a Tudor in High School,...

I updated my web site, and put up some photos of the cars I worked on, from a simple rebuild to a full restoration. Have a look if you have any interest. Lots of family stuff also.

            DISILLUSIONED?
            by BILL WILLIAMSON
Chief, my Dad & mentor, had a friend that built a BEAUTIFUL, BLACK Sedan. Shortly after drivin' it, he SOLD it! Apparently DISILLUSIONED with it. Chief said, "The only thing WRONG with the car was it was BETTER than new, including the paint"!
I've known of several folks that have done a similar thing. One built a '28 CCPU, with A/C, even. The seating comfort was SO BAD, he SOLD...
