I am installing a Toyota pickup differential in my 29 Business Coupe.I have to change the 1941 radius rods that I am going to use. Question, do I pie cut them or heat and bend them. I would like your opinions.

Welcome to our Modified forum.
Is this a stock engine?
When using an open drive shaft, you really need something extra to handle the torque,
How are you fixing the 41 RR to the diff?
And are you keeping the forward RR attachment point in the centre of car?

The engine is a Toyota 22R with a 5 speed aluminum transmission. I have run this with the model a differential with the 41 radius rods for 2 years and no problems.I also have an open drive shaft. The radius rods are attached to the exact center of the car. There was no altering of the radius rods as they fit exactly on the model A differential. The Toyota bolt pattern on the differential is a little different so I must bolt directly below.Because the Toyota differential is narrower,I have to adjust the radius rods. That’s why I want opinions on pie cutting them vs bending them.

Here is a few pictures of my project. Both sides are exactly the same so I will have perfect alignment. FD6FE76F-9741-4EBC-BC8B-339D2C891B63.jpg 92BEAF52-52E2-4CC7-B16E-36ADAAFACB39.jpg

I would pie cut them. Bending would deform and be hard to control the exact bend needed. Be careful and go easy on cuts to achieve what you want. You can always cut a little more but can't get back if you overcut your pie.

by wrndlnI have discovered something I haven't seen before. I was going through the 3 or 4 pairs of rear radius rods to pick the ones to use on my phaeton's rearend and noticed something I haven't noticed before. The brackets for the brake rod springs are different for some of them. The most common ones are the ones in the third picture - maybe 29 radius rods?? The brackets that are sandblasted are from a...You do not have permission to view this gallery.

by conaway2As I continue to work on rebuilding the rear axle, I noticed that the two radius rods are different. One has a forged fork that is welded to the radius rod; the other has what appears to be a stamped fork that seems to be pressed into the radius rod....
Can anyone enlighten me as to when these different parts were used ? I already know that the axle housings are from different years (28...-

Guys,
If any of you have any original 3/16 and/or 1/4 radius mirrors lying around, in a safe place hopefully, I need some more pictures.
Trying to get the right shot of each...reflective side up.
Would prefer butting the two types against each other would be a good photo shot.
Thanks.

The non-adjustable brake rods must be non-existant...been looking for some for 3 months now.
Anyone have any that are decent?
Thanks.
