I have a 1945 ford pu with a 1953 flat head v8 in it.I have just finished putting the 45 three speed back in it, and gotten through all the problems that came with that. Now I have hit the last big problem, I hope. I had to put on a adapter plate on the 53 to put on the 45 transmission. So the question is what do I do to be able to put on the starter. The 53 had a shield covering the flywheel and also a bracket to attach the starter . Is there something I can get that will cover the flywheel and clutch as well put the starter on??

Craig S, welcome to the VFF
I moved your post to the early V-8 discussion forum, as the feedback area is more for site issues and questions. I am sure someone here can help you out with your problem.3~ Tudor's & 1~ Coupe

Craig,
Never did that particular hook up. First, start an extensive search on ADAPTORS. There WILL be something out there that can get you set up. Keep in touch with me---I'm Mitchs' Dad & an old addicted Hot Rodder.
A pic of your adaptor MIGHT help??
Looks like Van Pelt has he stuff you need. I just looked at their info. BEST to call them. You need to identify what stuff you're using, so they can pair it up with their correct parts.

The new site looks great! Asking for your help with a sticky issue I've been wrestling with.
My restoration was coming along well until I tried to crank the new engine for the first time today. I've upgraded to a 12v system and put in the modern Bendix drive on the existing starter. When I try to crank the engine, I get a click and then nothing. The starter seems...-

by pAAtI have the chance to buy this setup and it would have been originally in my truck. Question is, would this be as reliable of a clutch as the newer single disc ? Thanks, Pat...You do not have permission to view this gallery.
