Mr Ford strived for vertical integration, the complete control of the manufacturing process, raw materials from his holdings were processed and manufactured in his industrial complex to be marketed in delearships controlled by him.
The drive toward this goal was embodied by the Rouge complex, an American Industrial achievement unparalleled..its first product in its entirety was the Model A,the basic design of which propelled Ford through 20 years of manufacturing progress, and during that time was unrivaled in its capability.Others may have outsold and out produced him by unit, but no manufacturer could match him in control of the process..
"I will build a motor car for the great multitude...constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the simplest designs that modern engineering can devise...so low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one-and enjoy with his family the blessing of hours of pleasure in God's great open spaces."
